According to Health Canada, smoking remains the most preventable cause of disease and premature death in Canada. More than 37,000 people die prematurely each year in Canada due to tobacco use and more than 830 non-smokers died in Canada from second-hand smoke last year.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is quickly becoming recognized as THE most effective treatment (including all available pharmaceutical therapies) for cigarette addiction. LaserIntervention has been a pioneer in the area of LLLT therapy for use in smoking cessation programs. LaserIntervention has designed its own highly effective custom program, and has experienced truly remarkable success rates. Our smoking cessation program is also eligible for full coverage under most employers benefit programs

(contact us today to see if you qualify).

Laser therapy from LaserIntervention Toronto has been gaining popularity as a method to quit smoking because in addition to being the most effective treatment on the market, the program is natural, safe, non-invasive, non-toxic, easily applied and has no negative side effects. The positive effects of the treatment are immediate; there is no need to wait for months like some patches and pills that are currently being prescribed.

This therapy has been used in Europe for over 30 years, and now LaserIntervention and Wellness of Toronto is driving the growth of the treatment protocol in Canada due to its overall effectiveness and high success rate.

The Science

When cigarette smoke is inhaled, natural chemicals in your body called endorphins are released, sending signals to your brain that make you feel less anxious, less stressed and causing you to feel more relaxed. Nicotine addiction alters the normal endorphin cycle in the body, and the result is that normal levels of endorphins are reduced unless and until nicotine is introduced to the bloodstream.

The effects of nicotine wear off quickly (usually 1 to 2 hours). As time goes by, endorphin levels in your body drop far below normal, and the smoker begins to feel irritable, stressed-out, fatigued, and anxious for another cigarette. As the next cigarette is consumed, the nicotine in the bloodstream raises endorphin levels to a point where these negative symptoms are reduced or temporarily eliminated. This is your nicotine addiction and this is why it is difficult to quit smoking.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) works to quickly correct the body’s’ natural endorphin cycle, and eliminate nicotine cravings. LLLT stimulates the body’s natural production and release of beta-endorphins (these are morphine like substances produced by various cells in the body that inhibit the sensation of pain). Laser therapy allows you to eliminate nicotine from your body while avoiding the cravings, stress, and irritability most commonly associated with withdrawal.

Laser treatment naturally stimulates your cells (or neurotransmitters) to release endorphins over a much longer period of time; 3 to 5 days, versus 1 to 2 hours for nicotine delivered via cigarette smoke. This is generally the amount of time it takes for nicotine to leave the body (and the typical deprivation stage for most chemical substances), and accounts for the extremely high success rate for LLLT. Complete smoking cessation can often be successfully achieved following just one treatment session from LaserIntervention and Wellness (2 “booster” sessions are included in our package and can be used when and if they are necessary).

During a treatment session, the “cold laser” is applied to specific points on your face, ears, wrists and hands. Most clients feel a calm sensation or absolutely nothing at all. It typically only takes 1 treatment to end your smoking addiction but we offer 3 treatments if needed to alleviate the nicotine cravings and to help you to quit smoking, naturally.

LaserIntervention practices a joint physical and psychological therapeutic approach to smoke cessation. Guidance and behavior modification advice is given to our clients to help them change their negative habits, and to help them understand why they smoke, and the realities of becoming a successful non-smoker. Our therapy is designed uniquely to each individual's behaviors and situations. The program has become successful due to its effective combination of techniques designed for life-long results.
